Stephen Gilbert Brechtfeldt

Stephen Gilbert Brechtfeldt was born March 28, 1941 in Oakland Calif. Grandson of the late Max and Maria Brechtefeld of Kiribati, son of the late Herman and Claire Brechtfeldt. Jesus took him home, Sunday morning, November 23. No more pain and now he can hear and see without help. He recommitted himself to Jesus, November 17, 2019 and now he is dancing with King David in front of God’s throne. Stephen served 27 years in the US Air Force, including 10 years at Travis AFB in California. He also served at Kimpo AFB in So Korea, as well as other AFB’s in the US as well as at Moffett Field with the Calif Air National Guard and retiring in 1996 from Coos Head Air National Guard. He was a Life member of the VFW and in Bandon he served as Quartermaster at VFW Post 3440. He was also a member of the American Legion for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Donna Brechtfeldt of Bandon as well as his first wife, Thelma Castillo, children Terri Traylor, Bob Brechtfeldt, Paula Brechtfeldt all of Manteca, Calif and Stephen Brechtfeldt Jr of Washington as well as a Stepson, Al Sexton of Bandon, Step daughter, Ronnie Palmer of Kansas and stepdaughter Dawn Owens of So. Carolina. He also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. Grandsons, Travis Brechtfeldt and Steve Wilson predeceased him earlier this year. A very dear friend, Arlene Eheler predeceased him as well. While the family experienced great losses this year we were also blessed with 5 new great grandchildren. Stephen loved that the family was continuing to grow. He is also survived by many cousins in Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Solomon Islands, New Zealand, Samoa, Nauru, Tahiti, Tokelau, and the US. His Celebration of Life will be December 13 at 2pm at Bandon First Baptist, the little white church on the hill. It will also be live streamed on You Tube. “His mercies are new every morning”
