A celebration of life and potluck for Scott Wayne Hughlett, 59, will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Sturdivant Park Gazebo in Coquille, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Please bring a favorite dish and join us to share your memories.
Scott Wayne Hughlett was born on November 5, 1966, in Myrtle Point, Oregon to Bobbie Lee and Patricia Hughlett. On May 7th, he passed away at his home outside Myrtle Point, where he was blessed to enjoy the everyday beauty surrounding him. Following a lionhearted effort with progressive debility, his absence will be deeply felt by those who cared for him, but there is a great relief in knowing Scott is finally free.
At a young age, Scott developed a love for all things outdoors. He enjoyed cruising back country roads, riding dirt bikes, and of course hunting and fishing. More often than not, he’d have his binoculars and fishing poles ready, just in case. Recently, he’d hobble down to the creek whether he could feel his feet or not and drop a line. He loved to tell his adventures to all who listened.
Growing up on the Oregon Coast, he got his start in the logging industry, to which he worked most of his life and made many friends. He will be remembered for his relentless sarcasm and down-to-earth humor. While pensive, Scott will be missed for his big-heartedness by those closest to him.
Scott is survived by his loving wife and partner of 20+ years, Nicole; his enduring 88-year-old mother, Patricia; his daughter, Kristen (Codey and granddaughter Keelie); his son, Jason; his stepson, Caleb; his stepdaughter, Whitney. He is also survived by his sisters Kathleen and Wendy (Dave); nephews, nieces, cousins, and many wonderful family members and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobbie Lee Hughlett and older brothers Robert and Edward.
Arrangements are under the care of Amling-Schroeder Funeral Service with a final resting place of Catching Creek Cemetery, Myrtle Point, Oregon.
