Rosemary Sorensen Obituary

Rosemary Epperson Sorensen, residing in Port Orford, Oregon, died 84 years old at Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon, Oregon. Rosemary was born in Moundville, Alabama on April 16th, 1939.  She was the only daughter of William Anguish Epperson and Lois Sims Epperson.  She grew up in Moundville until her family moved to Tuscaloosa where she attended high school.  Upon graduation she enrolled at the University of Alabama, School of Commerce and Business graduating with a B.S. in Secretarial Administration on August 19th 1960.   She was President of her sorority Pi Beta Phi, UA Bama Belle and Homecoming Crop.  She worked in Colorado at Shell Oil and Merrill Lynch corporate positions before joining the US Foreign Service in 1964 with her first posting in Vienna, Austria.  It was upon her second posting she transferred to Singapore where she met and married her husband Soren Sorensen having two sons Christian, born 1970,  and Mark, born 1973.  Eventually she left the State Department to stay at home and raise her boys in Singapore until they relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1982.  Rosemary worked to help support her family during those years until her sons had finished schooling and continued to assist her husband in his business ventures,  eventually living with her sons in Oregon.  She suffered from dementia in her later years but retained her charm and infectious smile.  Her sons cared for her and kept her active and traveling the world until her death on September 26th, 2023.

Anyone who met Rosemary knew she was a special person with a beautiful soul and a warm heart.  She was blessed to be loved by many of her family and friends and was especially close with many of her UA sorority sisters.  Rosemary travelled much of the world including Denmark, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Spain and many parts of Southern Asia.  Her sons were always the focus of her life and she was the most wonderful and loving mother.

She is survived by her two sons Christian and Mark Sorensen.  She has been cremated per her wishes and her ashes will be spread in the Pacific Ocean in places of meaning to her.  In lieu of flowers please express your sympathies and condolences on this page.   https://www.westrumfuneralservice.com/obituary/Rosemary-Sorensen
