Richard James Seagrave, age 71, of Port Orford, OR passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family.
Rich was born on August 8, 1953 in Buffalo, NY. He was the son of Jack K. Seagrave and Rita Darlack.
Rich joined the United States Coast Guard in 1971, where he earned his GED while completing boot camp. Rich served proudly for 20 years and retired in Honolulu, HI at the rank of ET1. After his retirement, Rich worked local jobs in Port Orford including at the 76 Station, cranberry bogs, as a crab fisherman, and in tree restoration. Rich and his wife Dee also ran the Green Gables motel in Burney, CA for 5 years. In June of 2000, Rich earned his Associate's Degree from Southwestern Community College in the field of computers.
Rich was united in marriage to Dolores Frances Pudlewski on November 10, 1973. This union of 51 years was blessed with three children, Richard James, Jr., Robert Nickelson, and Jackie Lynn.
Rich spent his time as a jack of all trades and Mr. Fixit, especially enjoying wood working, developing his property, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. Family and friends were the most important thing to him his whole life. Rich was a member of the American Legion.
Rich is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Dee, his three children Richard, Rob and his wife Beth, and Jackie, his grandchildren Darean, Brooke, Alex, and Clayton, his siblings Kathleen Morse and Paul Seagrave, his sisters in law JoAnne Lutz and MaryJo Barr, and great granddaughter Isla, and several nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Rita, and brother William Seagrave.
Rich's final wishes were to not have a memorial service and the family is honoring his wishes. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
