Peggy Jump Obituary

When Peggy Ann Jump was born on February 5, 1958, in Medford, Oregon, her father, William John Ferns Jr., was 25, and her mother, Geraldine Marie Hayes Ferns Robertson, was 23. She married Robert Cory Jump on September 17, 1983, at Union Creek in Jackson County, Oregon and they were divorced January 21, 2014. She has two brothers Thomas William Ferns and Ricky Lee Ferns, and two nephews and two nieces. Peggy had no children of her own, but was a devoted step-mother to Joshua Lee Jump and Jacob Keith Jump after their mother Nancy Lee Grant Jump passed away in an auto accident in 1979.

Peggy was a graduate of Prospect High School in 1976 where she was a popular cheerleader, and the Prospect Jamboree Queen.  Peggy’s best friends in High School were Linda Hixson, Carol Hale, Norma Malloy and Samatha Hatfield. Peggy worked from the time she was 16, starting at the Earl Bliss Prospect Café and Trophy Room, and then at Beckies’ Cafe as a waitress or bartender until her stroke in 2014.  She lived in Oregon, Visalia California, Haines Alaska, and then finally in Coquille Oregon where she was the bartender at the Coquille Eagles Aerie. She was always of good cheer and a comfort to many.  Out of gratitude for her friendship, William Mike Pryce willed Peggy his Coquille house in which she lived for many years.  Her friend Tom took Peggy out socializing as much as he could after her stroke. Peggy’s caregiver over the last few years, JD Shore, is a kind soul and has been a great comfort to her. We will all miss Peggy’s bright smile and cheerful attitude.
