Remembering Mariah
At just 18 years old, Mariah was full of life, love, and so much promise. With graduation right around the corner, she was excited for what was ahead and was planning to continue her journey by enrolling in college. She had dreams of pursuing nursing, with a special passion for working in the NICU, where her gentle heart and love for others would have made such a difference.
Mariah found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life especially being at the beach, her favorite place. She loved capturing memories, always taking pictures with her cousins, even if it meant taking a hundred just to love one. She was always up for late 9 p.m. runs for something random whether it was for a baking idea, Dutch, or makeup related she suddenly “needed.” She was the go-to driver for just about everything, even baseball cards, always showing up for the people she loved. She also cherished time spent hunting with her grandpa, these moments meant so much to her.
She had a heart that showed in everything she did. Mariah was incredibly kind, independent, and full of personality bringing a little sass and humor wherever she went. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, seen, and cared for. Her love for her family ran deep, and it showed in the little things, like the “LOL” messages she shared with her Grandma Judy, a simple connection that meant so much.
Mariah loved being an aunt more than anything, it was one of her proudest roles. The love she had for her niece, Tatum, was undeniable and pure. Children were naturally drawn to her, and she had a gift for making them feel safe and loved.
If you knew Mariah, you knew how much she loved having fun: making TikToks with her cousins, keeping up with every trending challenge, and sending voice audios back and forth at all hours. She loved getting ready and putting together the cutest outfits, even if it took a little extra time. Every night, you could count on her asking her mom, “What’s for dinner?”, followed by Mariah saying “Really, are you sure?”. And if she was with her brother Dylan, they were roasting each other to get a reaction and a laugh.
Summers were spent camping at the Rogue River, making memories with family. She loved music, especially blasting rap songs with her dad out on the porch and her aunt Sandy taking her to concerts, moments filled with laughter and videos to be remembered.
Mariah is survived by her parents, Brandon and Angela Mayfield; her brother, Dylan Mayfield, and sister-in-law, Kaylin; her niece, Tatum Mayfield; her grandparents, great grandmother; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends, along with countless others whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and endlessly loved by all who knew her.
