Marcia Marlene Hiler, age 83, passed away on June 22nd, 2021 at the Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay from pulmonary fibrosis, which she battled for 10 years. She is survived by her spouse of 41 years, “Jack” Hiler; children Greg Marci, and Brant; grandchildren Jessica, Trina, Marissa, Jackie, Heather, Jordan, and Lianna; and many great grandchildren.
Born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on September 16, 1937 to parents Willis and LuVada Terry. She relocated with her family several times and finally settled in Brewster, Washington where she graduated high school. She married Bob Ballew after high school and had one child, Greg, before moving before to Seattle, Washington and raising him as a single parent for many years.
She worked at Boeing, met John Delfeld there, was married for 12 years, and had her other two children, Marci and Brant. She has always worked throughout her life in many different positions, and while being a working mother, she always put her children first. Once she met Jack, she lived in southern Oregon near Winston, where Marci and Brant graduated from high school. She lived in Anchorage, Alaska for a number of years before moving back near Winston, Oregon then Coquille, and finally settling down in Myrtle Point.
She helped raised her grandchildren Jessica and Marissa for brief periods in Oregon and Alaska to assist Jack’s daughter, Lisa, now deceased. She always enjoyed rural living, never caring for urban life. Simple living was always her biggest love surrounded by the beautiful décor she always created in her homes. Very generous and quick to care for friends, family, and neighbors in need, she even cared for her mother, LuVada, in her home for many years after moving her down from Fairbanks to do so. She always found time to spend with family and often returned to eastern Washington to visit her parents and family there. She loved the coast, beach combing, Pendleton blankets, antiques, and her old house that she totally remodeled from the studs up. She was a collector of buttons, seashells, antiques, and art. She loved orchids and was a mean Chinese Checkers player! She was loved by many and will be missed.
