Marcel Dickey Obituary

Marcel Carol Dickey, age 85, passed away on November 28th, 2025 peacefully at home in Myrtle Point, Oregon. She spent her final days in the home that she and Kenneth built a legacy of love, laughter and family in since his retirement from the Navy in1977.

Marcel was born July 2nd, 1940 to William Cecil Linder, Sr and Thelma Ethel Linder in Jewell, Kansas. She was the youngest daughter out of the thirteen children. Marcel moved to Myrtle Point, Oregon in 1957 where she graduated from Myrtle Point High School known lovingly by her classmates as “Giggles”. She then met the love of her life, Kenneth Dickey whom she married December 20th, 1958. They continued their lives in the Navy moving around to several places for 20 years until they settled back in Myrtle Point after Kenneth retired from the military. Marcel and Kenneth both worked for the Myrtle Point Medical Center for over twenty years. She then worked as a traveling medical coder with her sister, Thelma Nadine Hirschenhofer, until she decided to retire.

Marcel loved to spend time with her family. She really enjoyed spending time playing cards, Yahtzee and stacking her bb’s. She loved challenging and connecting with people through online Solitaire.  She leaves many memories with her children Melvin, David, Rosalind, Diana and their families. Eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nadine, brother Larry, and sister-in-law Shirley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her mother and father, eight brothers, two sisters and one great granddaughter Sydney.

We will celebrate her life and memory on March 21st, 2026 at 2 pm at the Myrtle Point First Christian Church, 511 Sixth St, Myrtle Point, Oregon 97458, the same place Marcel and Kenneth were married in December 1958.
