Graveside service with military honors will be held for John Ratliff, 75, of Coquille, at 2:00PM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.
John was born in Holden, West Virginia on October 7, 1948 and died ad his home in Coquille on December 20, 2023
He grew up in Crescent City, CA and served in the U.S. Army from July of 1966 to July of 1968 in Vietnam. He received a Silver Star, Medal of Valor the Purple Heart and many other ribbons.
John was the second born of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and his parents.
He married his first wife, Ginger and they had two daughters, Sandy and Amber both of Crescent City. He was preceded in death by his second wife who died of cancer.
His partner in life, Debbie Kamakele was with him until his death. He was like a father and mentor to his nephew Jason Black, who is the son of his sister Mary Ann Sackett.
John is survived by three sisters, Mary Ann, Rita and Carla.
He lived in the Coquille area the last 35 to 40 years. He had many friends but only a few he trusted and spent his time with and they are here today to wish him farewell. John will and has been missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Until we meet again.
