David Roy Cooper passed away on Friday October 6th at his home in Bridge, Oregon surrounded by his family.  He was born in Grants Pass, Oregon on March 31st 1932 to Loran and Mildred (Montgomery) Cooper. He was raised on the Rouge River and spent his life in the forests and along the rivers. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, was stationed on The USS Irwin, and saw combat in the Korean War.  He married Virginia Ferreira on August 7th 1954 in Fall River Massachusetts.

Dave was a 63 year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and a retired Oregon State Forest Practice Forester. He made his home and raised his family in Bridge, Oregon.

David is survived by his loving wife Virginia and his three sons David W. Cooper, James L. Cooper, and Steven R. Cooper. He is also survived by his brothers James L. Cooper and Clair M. Cooper and was preceded in death by his sister Jane Hutton.

Dave leaves behind a legacy of doting grandchildren including Kelly Cooper, Nichole Cooper-Hays, Steven Cooper, Callen Cooper, David Cooper, and Danielle Cooper, as well as three great-grandchildren Kyle Butler, Gracyn Cooper and Lincoln Cooper.

Dave was a family man and a friend to many. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working in his garden, hunting and fishing, socializing with friends and most of all spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as “Crappa” and his memory will be cherished by his spoiled grandchildren that enjoyed copious amounts of candy, story-time, golf cart rides, outdoor adventures and hugs.

There will be no public service as his family will hold a small gathering, at a later date, to celebrate his life and memory.

My name is Glennda and I am sorry I never got to meet David. But I hope to meet you Virginia. Roy and I moved into the old Bridge house where I think you used to live. We were looking in the little cabin(as we call it.)Behind the house. We have found boxes of slides and wonder if these could be yours. It would be wonderful if these were yours and you wanted them. My phone number is 541-260-2956. Also we have been receiving mail and returning to post office. I looked online to see if I could find a forwarding address. Sad to say this notice of David's obituary came up. Please call would love to meet you when it is a good time for you. Glennda Hamm
