Melburn Mowrey Craven

4/28/1932 ~ 3/17/2013


Melburn Mowrey Craven, 80, Native Oregonian, born at Mast Hospital. He was a only child of Milton Mowrey Craven and Annie Marie “Johnson” Craven.


He graduated from Myrtle Point High School. He went to Oregon State College in Corvallis  for 3 years for forestry and Business Administration.


He served during the Korean War 1953-1957 at Fort Sill, OK.


Mel married Barbara Jo “Brewer” Craven on Dec 23, 1954 in Coquille. He worked for Coos Bay Lumber- Georgia Pacific for 36 years, till the mill closed in Coquille.

He then went to SWOCC- Majoring in Bookkeeping and graduating.


He is survived by his wife Barbara Jo, two Blessings, Our son Michael Eugene Craven his wife D.D. “Meir” Craven.

Our daughter Monique Ann “Craven” Heagle.

Also survived by grandchildren Ian Michael Craven; McKenzie Lynn Craven; Kyla Ann “Howell” Foster Husband Gabe Foster. All of Myrtle Point.

Our Bonus Granddaughters; Shawn Potts spouse Dan and daughter Kenndy of Eugene, Or.

Chris Bouthillier and spouse Daris  day. Ivette of Buena Park, Cal. And many, much loved Nieces and Nephews.


Mel was a very good man. He took care of his family to the end. He is now safe with the Lord.
